Design Challenge
How can you create a visual that depicts trips of different distances and time traveled next to one another in a non-linear fashion?
Solution
Design a map where each trip taken is linked together by the same percentage of time traveled.
This is a mapping of 3 separate trips taken by Luke Gordon, visualized next to each other in relation to the total time traveled. For each minute traveled in the innermost map, approximately an hour was traveled during the middle trip, and about 2.5 hours traveled on the outermost map, relating each trip, disparate in miles and time traveled, to one another in a nonlinear visualization.
Rotating Map

The circular layout of this map is designed to be rotated 360 degrees. As you rotate the map, each trip can be followed in chronological order. Once the map makes a full rotation, the viewer ends up back at the beginning of the map, where the start of the next mapped journey starts.
